Dermapen – Micro-Needling
The newest innovation in skin care revitalization in the anti-aging arena is micro needling.
The technique is a “quick fix that has lasting results” and has not more than a few hours of “downtime” until one can get back to their social plans. Micro-needling allows access to the elusive, deeper layers of the skin where collagen and elastin cells reside. It stimulates those cells to reproduce and results in softening of fine lines and wrinkles, tightening of pores and minimizing scars by a “filling in” process of your own tissue. The increased collagen and other supporting tissues created by the process lead to improved texture and tone of the skin, transforming it to an improved and younger appearance.
The DermaPen treatment employs an adjustable cluster of tiny needles that prick the skin with literally thousands of tiny holes down to the dermis. This allows infusion of anti-aging products including peptides, anti-oxidants, hyaluronic and serums with growth factors deep into the dermis where they can do the most good. Brown “sun spots” can be treated with infusions of kojic acid and other lightening agents. It does all of that with a minimum of downtime because there is no damage from heat that occurs with many laser treatments. It is also a much less expensive, more affordable, alternative to laser treatments.
Unlike the clumsy, handheld rollers of the past, the electric DermaPen can be adjusted for different areas and thicknesses of skin such as the forehead and areas around the eyes and mouth vs. the cheeks, neck or decollete’. It can also be used on the hands, arms or other areas including scars on the back, legs or shoulders.
Micro-needling results are best when done as a series of 3-4 treatments, each one building on the last. At Gentle Touch Aesthetics, the series can range from $999 to $1999, depending on number of treatments and areas treated.
